The expo will feature quality pre- sentations all day long, beginning with a welcome address at 8:00 a.m. by Tom Poppitz, CCAI Twin Cities Chapter president; Paul Pagel, MnTAP senior engineer and EXPO co-chair; and Anne Goyer, CCAI executive director. The rest of the presentations will be split into three focus topics: Pretreatment, Equipment, and Materials. Technical sessions in the Pretreatment focus will include: Pretreatment 101: The Basics by Doug Van Duyne, DuBois Chemicals; Media Blast or Acid Pickle: Removing Laser Edge and Weld Scale by Chris Berger, Calvary Industries; and Troubleshooting the Modern Industrial Pretreatment and Coating Shop by David Chalk, DuBois Chemicals. Show information Location. The Minnesota Symposium & Paint and Powder Coating Expo will be held at Century College, 3300 Cen- tury Ave N, White Bear Lake, MN 55110; www.century.edu. In addition to the focus sessions, there will be two general presentations held in the afternoon. At 1:30 p.m., Apply- ing Science to the Art of Powder Coating by Robyn Aiken of BTD will be offered. At 2:30 p.m., Success Sto- ries in Finishing will be offered, which will feature local users and suppliers presenting finishing success stories on operational efficiencies, cost savings, and energy reduction. A vendor show will be also held during the afternoon to answer all of your indus- trial coating and process efficiency con- cerns. It will highlight paints, powder ap- plication equipment, pretreatment technology, and cleaning and curing sys- tems. It will also feature live hands-on demonstrations with working applica- tion equipment and ovens. Vendors at the show will include Fischer Technol- ogy, Vogel Industrial Coatings, Rohner, EPSI Masking Solutions, DuBois Chemicals, Gema USA, Nordson, GAT Finishing Systems, Calvary Industries, Global Finishing Solutions, and more. Painter training. In conjunction with the expo, the Iowa Waste Reduction Center will provide liquid industrial painter training, where trainers will work with attendees to improve finish- ing techniques on virtual reality spray equipment. Training will cover the fun- damentals of spray application and focus on best practices to optimize spray technique to improve productivity, re- duce rework and defects, and decrease air emissions. The 4-hour program is available in either the morning or after- noon. Class size is limited to 25 per ses- sion. Painter training is offered through the financial support of MnTAP.
