The Steinplatz is a six-minute walk to the Ber-
lin Zoologisher Garten train station, provid-
ing easy access to the downtown historic sites
heading inbound, and an easy, 45-minute train
ride to Hoppegarten in the other direction. Re-
ferred to as the "Grande Dame" of the West
Berlin hotel scene, the Steinplatz has survived
two world wars--a rarity in Berlin, where virtu-
ally everything was destroyed. It has an art nou-
veau feel to it, and originally opened as a luxury
hotel in 1913. Marriott International renovated
the property in 2013, and reopened it under its
Autograph Collection banner.
