Classes are offered by exhibiting artists and students from places like Power, Cut Bank, and Lewistown are invited and encouraged to attend. This program also supports high school art teachers. Ukrainetz says, "Teachers can apply for money for specialized projects such as workshops to learn how to put together an art portfolio for college admission. We don't fund 100% because we feel kids need to be actively involved in their future. But we help support those efforts." New this year is the Zach Babat Memorial Scholarship. "Two years ago, Zach Babat, who was an exhibiting artist at the Out West Art Show for a number of years, lost his life in a plane wreck in Alaska. Last year, his wife, Kerry Pride, approached us with a check from Zach's family, friends, and fellow pilots to start the Zach Babat Memorial Scholarship Fund. A significant portion of Zach's print sales go to this facet of the Young Masters Program and this will be the first year we'll be awarding the Memorial Scholarship. It's a state-wide opportunity, " Ukrainetz says. Why should you consider taking part in this year's show? Sullivan concludes, "I think it's extremely important to the public. The art and cultural industries, nationwide, bring in more money than the tourism industry. We ARE the state of Montana. We ARE the melting pot of all-age entrepreneurs. All artists who choose to take this gift they have within them and turn it into something that can make them the artistic, entrepreneurial, talented people they are: it's a win-win…it starts with a dream. A dream and a 'Yes, I can!'"
