Redstone Federal Credit Union is excited to welcome the hundreds of athletes, coaches and families who will travel to Madison County June 8-10, 2018, for the Alabama State Games. It's an Olympic year and the perfect time to host these statewide games. Held in true Olympic fashion, athletes – young and old, and at any ability or skill level – are invited to participate. ‡e 36th annual Alabama State Games are part of a nationwide network of state games. Redstone is sponsoring the Opening Ceremony for the games this year through 2020. ‡e Opening Ceremony, held at the VBC in Huntsville on June 8, will feature the Parade of Athletes, the running of the Olympic Torch, and lighting of the Olympic Flame. ‡e ceremony will be televised live on public television and will offer musical entertainment and a fun mix of hi-tech lasers and pyrotechnics. It's free to attend the Opening Ceremony, and a special area has been designated for Redstone Federal Credit Union members. Just show your debit or credit card to enter that section. ‡e Huntsville-Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that this event will generate more than $1.5 million in economic impact. ‡at's due, in part, to the facility rentals, hotel nights, restaurants and other services that will be utilized by participants and spectators. Because Tennessee does not have its own state games, their athletes are encouraged to join us here in Alabama as we compete together. People sometimes ask me why we support such a wide array of events and activities around the communities where our branches are located.
