abbreviated checklist to get you started.

TO MOVE INTO
A NEW HOUSE?
TWO MONTHS BEFORE:
Sort and purge. ‡is is the time to
take inventory of your things and
get rid of those you don't need or
want anymore. Donate, sell or toss.
Research moving companies.
Get referrals and read reviews. A
phone interview can be helpful.
Request school and medical records
if moving outside of the district.
ONE MONTH BEFORE:
Finalize moving company. Carefully
read and review contract for moving
services. What items will the
company not move?
Use it or lose it. Use up perishable
items and frozen goods.
Start packing.
Notify utility company and all
service providers of your move.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE:
Clean out safe deposit box.
Re-confirm with moving company.
Plan for pets.
Refill prescriptions.
Do a change of address.
ONE WEEK BEFORE:
Pack suitcases.
Plan to transport valuables yourself.
