After two years at the University of New Hampshire, he made his debut with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2009. Followers: 110,305 Description: The former Flyer gained additional followers when he was traded north of the border to Toronto this offseason. The Maple Leaf does a fair amount of tweeting about his former college program, where his younger brother Trevor is cur- rently playing. When he's not tweeting about UNH he's offering up his two cents on a variety of sports news. #sportscasterinthemaking 28 Even NHL stars are getting in on the act. With so many people tweet- ing about this and that, here's our take on a few of the top American NHL stars that you should be following around the Twitterverse. ocial media has exploded into every aspect of our everyday lives and is only expected to continue to grow and evolve. For now though, Twitter is becoming one of the world's most popular social networks with more than 140 million users communicat- ing 140 characters at a time. Dustin Brown @DustinBrown23 Bio: Captain of the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings and all-around good guy. Followers: 121,425 Description: Brown is one of the Kings of social media – pun intended – when it comes to interacting with his fans and using Twitter to promote his causes. The Los Angeles Kings cap- tain has tweeted pictures of him and kids at Children's Hospital LA and has thanked fans for helping him raise more than $15,000 for the Semper Fi Fund back in August. #charitable David Booth @D_Booth7 Bio: The Vancouver Canucks winger is as comfortable taking aim at opposing goalies as he is tracking his prey in the wild. Followers: 45,562 Description: The hunting aficionado loves to document his experiences through his Twitter account, posting Twitpics of sunsets, grassy knolls and wildlife. Booth loves to promote his solidarity with nature, possibly becoming Twitter's ver- sion of Henry David Thoreau. Not sure if that is more impressive or the fact that he can get cell phone service in the middle of nowhere. #philosophicalhunter Bobby Ryan @b_ryan9 Bio: The Cherry Hill, N.J., native has never met a shot he wouldn't take, both on the ice and on Twitter. Followers: 133,701 Description: Ryan is very interactive with his fans/followers offering a series of retweets, mentions and shout outs. The Anaheim Ducks winger touches on a variety of topics, including a fair amount of tweets about NBC's hit television show "The Voice."
