Tablets & Capsules April 2018 47 Biohaven to develop migraine treatment with Catalent ODT NEW HAVEN, CT—Biohaven Pharmaceutical has entered into an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Catalent, Swindon, UK, to use Catalent's Zydis orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) fast-dissolving formulation to develop rimegepant, Biohaven's calci- tonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist candidate for the treatment and prevention of acute migraines. Zydis is a freeze-dried, oral solid dosage form that disperses almost instantly in the mouth without water. The agreement also provides exclusive rights to develop small molecule CGRP receptor antagonists with Zydis ODT. Lonza expands Tampa site BASEL, Switzerland—Lonza has installed a Harro Höfliger Modu-C MS capsule filler at its integrated product development and manufacturing facility in Tampa, FL. The addition of this spe- cialized drum-dosing technology for powder-in-capsule filling expands the company's North American late-stage clinical and commercial encapsulation capabilities for solid oral and inhaled dos- age. The company is also adding a dis- pensing area and two processing suites to increase its capacity for handling highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company recently transferred its clinical storage and distribution services to the Bethlehem site from its Phoenix-ville, PA, facility. The GMP-compliant kilolab is designed to handle the production of toxic substances and offers maximum protection against cross-contamination. The lab is equipped for the production of full synthesis and HPAPI contract development and manufacturing ser- vices, including extraction, isolation, purification, and synthetic modification on a wide range of scales. ACG to use Applied DNA's molecular tags in empty capsules STONY BROOK, NY—Applied DNA Sciences and ACG, Mumbai, India, have signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow ACG to use Applied DNA's SigNature molecu- lar taggants to develop molecular- ly-tagged empty capsules. Molecularly- tagged capsules will allow ACG's customers to enhance product authenti- cation and traceability as well as strengthen distribution channel integ- rity.
