Before launching into my tale of the extraordinary weekend
I recently spent at the Adelphi, a little historical perspective
about the Adelphi Hotel and its importance to the local
community is in order. It first opened in 1877, designed to
cater to the movers and shakers of that era seeking a suitable
setting among the natural spas and springs synonymous with
the region. The local horse racing track and casinos were
obviously appealing selling points as well, making Saratoga
a perfect vacation spot.
Not much has changed since then.
The newly refurbished version opened its doors in October
2017, and has quickly established a similar reputation. I was
fortunate to spend the last weekend of April exploring the ins
and outs of this stunning hotel, and its three accompanying
restaurants: The Blue Hen, Morrissey's, and Salt & Char.
But first things first: how to get there.
