For the majority of people in the Thoroughbred industry,
this seems pretty obvious. They have been making the
annual pilgrimage to upstate New York by land, air or sea
for years; some, for decades. But for first-time visitors, there

I usually like to drive, but this time my girlfriend Elyse
and I decided to embrace America's much-maligned public
transport system. We jumped on the Amtrak train from Penn
Station in Manhattan and arrived in Saratoga about 3 ½ hours
later. It was extremely pleasant and highly recommended
for anyone travelling from New York City. Just make sure to
book your Amtrak ticket in advance, especially during the
busy summer season, or you'll risk being shut out.
