Well kid, let me put it to you this way,
Life is no perfect hat trick.
It's had unsuspected checks from behind
And insane referee calls,
Post-hitting shots
But even when you have to sit out,
Always play hard.
But all the time
I've been getting back up from a hard check
And re-lacing my skates,
Scoring goals
And sometimes risking my health
For a blocked shot
It's all for the man next to me that I call my teammate.
So kid, don't give up on the game just yet,
Don't stop skating
Because it only gets harder from here on out.
Don't quit,
Cuz I'm still persevering over all odds
And winning.
And life for me hasn't been a perfect hat trick.
