Rationale and goals
The Office of Information Technology
and University Communications teams
continued to work on upgrades to CMU's
websites, with major releases of enhanced
functionality occurring in August and
December 2013. The 2011-12 efforts to
create a more cohesive web presence for
CMU served as the foundation for Web
Evolution 2013.
The advances reflected feedback from
faculty, staff, students, the Senior
Leadership Team, web administrators from
the colleges and service units, cross-
campus marketing team, Web Governance
Council and Technology Planning Council.
Project Objectives:
1. Enhance user experience through
improved navigation, content and search
2. Strengthen the branding of the website
and reinforce the Chippewa spirit
through bold new designs
3. Expand internal communications
channels by adding new features such as
Alerts and Notifications
4. Streamline the web editing and approval
process by eliminating duplicate content
and sync functionality while simplifying
publishing workflows
5. Make the website more user-friendly to
tablets, smartphones and other mobile
devices in order to meet the demand of
the increasing number of mobile devices
used to access the university's website
