GALE DIGITAL COLLECTIONS: HOW WE DIGITIZE PRIMARY SOURCE MATERIALS For more than 40 years, Gale has been committed to scanning the most important and rare primary source collections from around the globe. By partnering with some of the world's most prestigious institutions and carefully selected advisory boards, we have built world-class collections of these invaluable resources, making them widely accessible to scholars and students. Dedicated researchers would previously had to devote years to locate, visit, and review the documents in these special collections. Gale Digital Collections make these rare works available 24/7, offering instant access to centuries of primary sources and opening up new opportunities for original scholarship. AGILE SPEED AND FLEXIBILITY While the raw data is being digitized and converted, our Agile team develops the research platform. The Agile approach is based upon a high degree of collaboration among teams and allows users to review and test our products early in the process, helping us to ensure delivery of the best possible product to our customers. TEXT AND DATA MINING Recognizing the benefit of data analysis for the digital humanities field, Gale has now made available content from Gale Digital Collections to academic researchers for data and text mining purposes. Gale is the first publisher to make content sets such as these available in this format to academics; as a visionary market leader, it aims to be a vibrant part of moving the digital humanities forward. The content is delivered upon customer request and in a cost-effective manner. THE STORY BEHIND GDC
