EUROPEAN LITERATURE, 1790-1840: THE CORVEY COLLECTION This unique collection of monographs includes a wide range of Romantic literature published in English, French, and German. Sourced from Castle Corvey in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the Corvey Collection is one of the most important surviving collections of works from the period. With a special focus on these rare works — especially difficult-to-find works by lesser-known women writers — more than 9,500 titles are included. With European Literature, 1790-1840: The Corvey Collection, scholars can research topics including Romantic literary genres, mutual influences of British, French, and German Romanticism, literary culture, women writers of the period, the canon, Romantic aesthetics, and many others. BRITISH THEATRE, MUSIC, AND LITERATURE: HIGH AND POPUL AR CULTURE British Theatre, Music, and Literature: High and Popular Culture includes receipts and archives from the Drury Lane Theatre, Royal Philharmonic Society music manuscripts, and the (largely forgotten) Wandering Minstrels archive, which opens a rare glimpse into the decades of Gilbert and Sullivan. The archive enables scholars to explore primary sources covering such topics as Victorian popular culture, street literature, social history, music, bloods and penny dreadfuls, professional acting on the London stage, the Royal Literary Fund, British dramatic works, and many others. As a record of everyday life, it is nothing short of extraordinary. THE TIMES LITERARY SUPPLEMENT HISTORICAL ARCHIVE, 1902-2009 Since 1902,The Times Literary Supplement has scrutinized, applauded, and dissected the work of leading writers and thinkers. It has continued into the 21st century as the only literary weekly — the only journal, in fact — offering comprehensive coverage of the latest and most important publications, in every subject and in several languages. It also reviewed current theater, cinema, music, and exhibitions. The Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive is easy to navigate and fully searchable. It offers unparalleled opportunities for tracking the views of influential opinion makers, the response of their peers, the controversies of the day, and how they developed. Contributors have included the world's most influential writers and critics, from T.S. Eliot and Virginia Woolf to A.N. Wilson and Christopher Hitchens. 1-800-877-4253 | gale.cengage.com/gdc LITERATURE 39
