The patent broadly covers small, dense and dispersible dry powders comprised of proprietary combina- tions of divalent cation salts and excipients. The company now has 37 issued patents worldwide cover- i n g t h e i S P E R S E t e c h n o l o g y through at least 2030. iSPERSE par- ticles are engineered to be small, dense and easily dispersible upon inhalation. iSPERSE is also flow rate independent. The Company's has a p r o p r i e t a r y p r o d u c t p i p e l i n e focused on cystic fibrosis and idio- pathic pulmonary fibrosis and col- laborates with partners to treat major pulmonary diseases. Lupin opens Center of Excellence for Inhalation MUMBAI, INDIA—Lupin Lim- ited has opened a Center of Excel- lence for Inhalation Research in Coral Springs, FL, US. A company news release stated the new facility will bring 45 highly skilled positions to Broward County. Lupin's new facility will focus on the research and development of inhalation products for the treatment of asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic obstructive pul- monary diseases and other lung dis- eases. Headquartered in Mumbai, India, Lupin is a transnational phar- maceutical company producing and developing a wide range of branded and generic formulations, APIs and biotechnology products. It is the fifth largest and fastest growing generics company in the US and the third largest Indian pharmaceutical company by sales. RESPIRATORY MEDICINE NEWS UK survey: Childhood asthma down 10 percent in 10 years ABERDEEN, UK—Asthma rates in children have dropped by more than 10 percent in 10 years accord- ing to the first and longest running asthma survey in the UK, now 50 years old itself, according to Medical Xpress. Parents of children at 41 schools across Aberdeen, UK com- pleted 3,935 surveys conducted by researchers from the University of Aberdeen. The Aberdeen School Asthma Study was first completed in 1964 and exactly the same questions have been answered by parents of children aged 9-12 years attending the same city primary schools in 1989 and every five years since.
