VALDOSTA STATE UNIVERSITY Dean, Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration Valdosta State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Harley Langdale, Jr. College of Business Administration. The College seeks an articulate, energetic leader who will build on the College's strong foundation and effectively address future opportunities and challenges. This is a twelve-month, tenure track administrative faculty appointment beginning July 1, 2005. The College's 40 facul- ty members offer a B.B.A. program with 1400 students pursuing one of five majors (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing), a part-time evening M.B.A. program, and a WebMBA program offered in conjunction with four other state universities. The B.B.A. and M.B.A. programs are accredited by AACSB International (see http://www.valdosta.edu/coba/). Responsibilities: The Dean is the chief administrative officer of the College and reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Duties include overseeing and improving College academic programs; administering faculty recruitment, development, promotion, tenure, and evaluation procedures; managing the College budget and facilities; strategic planning for the College; and communicating effectively with internal and external constituencies. In addition, the Dean must provide leadership in the AACSB International maintenance of the accreditation process, culminating in a 2006-2007 site visit. Qualifications: Candidates for the position should have an earned doctorate in one of the business program areas from an AACSB International accred- ited institution; a record of demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship warranting appointment at the rank of Professor in a department of the College; at least three years of successful leadership experience and budget responsibility at the level of department chair or above; successful experi- ence with AACSB International accreditation processes; capacity to work effectively with senior administrative colleagues, faculty, staff, students, alum- ni, and the business community; commitment to participatory decision-making within a shared governance structure; evidence of achievements in fos- tering academic excellence and research opportunities; and must be able to demonstrate leadership and communication skills, vision, enthusiasm, and the ability to accomplish goals. Salary: AACSB International competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Valdosta State University is located in Valdosta, a city of 45,000 in south-central Georgia. Dean, Lubin School of Business Pace University, New York City & Westchester County, NY Pace University (www.pace.edu) is a nation- ally ranked university with nearly 14,000 students offering a range of highly rated undergraduate and graduate programs in addition to business, including arts and sci- ences, computer science and information systems, education, law and nursing. The University's Strategic Plan calls for the internationalization of the curriculum and the establishment of global centers of learning in various parts of the world. The Lubin School will play a key role in these developments, as well as in enhanc- ing the national ranking of the University, as also presented in the Strategic Plan. The successful candidate must possess the vision, leadership, and creativity to infl u- ence the direction of Pace's business edu- cation program. The Dean should possess signifi cant experience in business school teaching, administration and scholarship, and/or senior executive/CEO experience in the corporate/business sector. The ability to build external relationships of mutual benefi t and to fundraise on behalf of the School with the business and fi nancial communities of downtown New York City and Westchester County is key, as is the ability to work well within the University community. A Ph.D. in a business-related fi eld is ideal, but an MBA degree with strong senior executive/CEO experience also will be considered. The Dean will be eligible for tenured appoint- ment to the Business School faculty. The Dean will be expected to assume the position in July 2005.
