Special Events FIRST TIMER'S Welcome and Speed Friending Wednesday May 23, 4:00-5:15 PM Kierland Grand 1B Start your SNAG conference experience with Speed Friending on Wednesday, May 23rd . It's the perfect opportunity to get to know your fellow attendees and SNAG Board Members. Practice your networking skills and "elevator pitch" in a relaxed and fun environment. This event is a warm-up before the Pin Swap Pool Party and is open to EVERYONE interested in making connections that last the entire conference —and beyond. Don't forget your business cards. Pin Swap Pool Party Wednesday May 23, 7:00-9:00 PM Westin's Water Park/Main Pool This year's opening night reception with annual pin swap will take place by one of the Westin Kierland's beautiful pools! Pick up a cool drink from the pool bar and enjoy the finger food while enjoying the live Mariachi band! It's still the perfect informal opportunity to meet other seasoned and new conference attendees. Swap your clever, simple and inexpensive pins or anything you want to swap—tools, materials, books, found objects—over hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The Pin Swap Pool Party is all about expressing yourself, having a good time, reconnecting, and meeting new people. Student Mixer Wednesday May 23, 9:00 PM-Midnight Brittlebush Bar & Grill Students—network and make new friends onsite at the Westin Kierland's intimate Brittlebush Bar and Grill. Located on the grounds of the resort- just a short walk from the main building. Have fun at this don't-miss event. You don't have to be a student to attend - everyone is welcome including all ages! A Smaller Conference Experience Friday May 25, 12:15-1:30 PM Kierland Grand 1A&B Book Signing Friday May 25, 3:30-4:00 PM Culturekeepers Hall West 26 Sponsored by Art Jewelry Forum. Engage in an informal lunch discussion with keynote speaker Garth Clark. The HEAT IS RISING with hot topics! Garth Clark is known for raising controversial issues. Ask provocative questions and dive into the issues presented in the keynote lecture. Pick up your pre- ordered Grab & Go lunch and feed yourself and your mind! Recent authors will be selling and signing their recent publications in our field! You can buy directly from them, or bring their books you already own! One of our own conference speakers, Steve Midgett, will participate, along with Harlan Butt, Brigitte Martin, and others! Each book seller is their own cashier, so credit cards may or may not be accepted.
