Demonstrations Note: Some demos are held indoors in Kierland Grand 1C, and some are held outside on the Trailblazer's Terrace (this outdoor terrace is located out the Trailblazer's West Hallway doors, next to the Vendor Room) Wednesday, May 23: 4:30 – 5:00pm Kierland Grand 1 Metal Forming with New Fretz Stakes: Rio Grande presents Bill Fretz who will demonstrate traditional silversmithing techniques to form contemporary shapes. Wednesday, May 23, 5:30 – 6:30pm Kierland Grand 1 The Reactive Metals: Bill Seeley from Reactive Metals Studio presents a rapid fire power point presentation showing images of reactive metals from ore to art. You will see a lot of contemporary work from forging, forming, and a short anodizing demo. Thursday, May 24, 12:30 – 1:00pm Kierland Grand 1 One Blow Rivet: Fred Zweig will demonstrate his "Amazing Single Blow Rivet" developed while making multiple swap pins. See how to consistently create perfect rivets with a small amount of preparation and a minimum amount of effort. Make rivets a part of your surface embellishment vocabulary. Thursday, May 24, 3:15 – 3:45pm Trailblazer's Terrace (outside) Silicone Rubber Mold Making: Susanna Speirs will explore various silicone mold materials to enable you to make multiple reproductions of original models. These silicone rubber molds can be used for direct casting of materials such as: low temperature metals, wax, gypsum products, plastic and resins. She will also cast directly into the molds with pewter and plastic! 60
