ExcipientFest Americas, a pharma- ceutical conference and exhibition, takes place April 24-26 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, Providence, RI. The event, presented by IPEC- Americas, is expected to attract more than 400 industry professionals and academics and 40 exhibitors. The conference, kicks off Monday with a full day of technical and regu- latory workshops. Tuesday morning, Jon Gawlak of Par Pharmaceuticals will give the keynote address, "Managing the deli- cate balance between purchasing strategy and quality requirements." Later that day, Virginia Wotring of the National Space Biomedical Research Institute will discuss "Longterm space flight and its chal- lenges for pharma and biotech indus- tries," and Geoff Wu of the FDA out- lines how the Agency encourages emerging technologies to modernize pharmaceutical manufacturing. All day Tuesday and Wednesday, conference-goers can attend presen- tations on novel excipients, technical innovation, supplier management, R&D, biopharmaceutics, regulatory standards, counterfeiting, traceability, chemical screening, lifecycle supply, and supply chain oversight.
