HRO Today Forum Europe The Dubliners Our recent HRprOgression survey (see page 28) solidified a viewpoint we hear regularly from our extensive practitioner audience: They need consultation, experience, and guidance to make their departments and companies work more effectively and efficiently. Technology and services have a massive role to play in this, and that is the main focus driving the HRO Today Forum Europe event. It's hard to believe another year has passed and we convene in a different city for the ninth year. In Dublin, we will discuss various aspects of the HR profession and how to be a master of HR in your respective area. I am truly excited for this year's event. We have all braced another challenging year, and the industry has shown real dynamics, charging ahead with the times. We are in a unique position this year to be able to hear from our colleagues in Ireland about how they have progressed in times of economic uncertainty. Plus, an unrivalled set of speakers will offer our local, European, and global delegates opportunities to learn and share content that will help them every day. I am honoured to have what I have subtly deemed the "Captains of Industry" on our opening afternoon. These are the practise leads from companies that initially shaped the HRO market more than a decade ago, and at the Forum, we will hear how they continue to drive the market and its offerings forward when the industry (and the "O") has taken on an entirely different meaning (see page 10 for the start of the conversation). I'm not sure they'll thank me, but the panel members together bring almost a century's worth of experience in HR(O)! This roundtable of thought leaders will be asked a set of questions, as well as take inquiries from the audience. For those unable to attend, the session will be [14] HRO TODAY GLOBAL | FALL 2012 • Recruitment and talent • Technology • Learning • Innovation and competitive intelligence • Contingent workforce planning The whole event places a significant emphasis on networking with a range of master classes, hosted breakfasts, and a dinner to help build new relationships. Practitioners can convene in very few places to meet all of the industry's major service providers, advisors, influencers, and research companies. This year's Forum is supported by more than 25 sponsors, supporters, and partners, including our main sponsors Oracle, KellyOCG, Randstad Sourceright, Hays, and Advantage xPO. New to the Forum, the iTalent competition (see page 22) will host 10 technology service providers who will bring a different flavour to the entire programme and discussions. Remember to watch for updates across our social media platform during the event for hot news, commentary, broadcasting, winner announcements, and future issues that will surely explored further in some of the key sessions. A preview of who will be sharing what and why—you already know where. By Faye Holland webcast live, on YouTube after the event, and detailed in my highlights page next issue. David Andrews (see "A Frank Xchange," HRO Today Europe, p. 16, Fall 2010) will use his years of experience to discuss how HR is not yet a solved problem and how we can all reshape the HR business through lessons from across Europe. Across the three days, 47 speakers will be sharing their experiences and insights with the delegation covering: • Being a master of HR • Sourcing
