Forrester Research's study Sizing The Cloud reports that the cloud computing industry is projected to grow to more than $241 billion by 2020 (it was valued at $40 billion in 2010). The report divides the cloud into three categories: IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service), PaaS (platform-as-a-service) and the most common in HR operations, SaaS (software-as-a-service). A SaaS provider houses the technology so that buyers can access it over the Internet—anytime and anywhere. Forrester Research forecasts that SaaS revenues will reach $92.8 billion by 2016, making up 26 per cent of the total packaged software market.
