Clearly, global economics have caused business strategies to increase their reliance on talent. In a study we conducted surveying 362 business leaders on shifting business priorities affecting operations, gaining access to talent and capabilities and driving cultural change nearly doubled in importance, whilst reducing costs (-15 per cent) decreased in total importance (see Figure 3). Business strategies are increasingly forcing employees to collaborate across customer segments, regions, and processes, which requires changes to organisation design, performance management, and culture.
