Urban's group at Clemson University. She joined the Urban R e s e a r c h G r o u p i n 2 011 a n d received a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2016. She is a co-author of several high impact publications and patents, and her research focuses on the design and development of advanced stimuli-re- spon sive polym e r s an d coat ing s , including self-healing and shape memory polymers, and multi-phase composite systems. Wis., and a doctorate in chemistry a n d c h e m i ca l e n g in e e r in g f r om Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Mich. He has also done postdoctoral work in macromolecu- lar science at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland . Urban has writ ten more than 30 0 research papers, several patents, and three books, and has edited nine books. He has won numerous awards, includ- ing the Technical Focus Speaker and Roon Foundation Awards (1999) from the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technologies (FSCT), and an o u t stan d in g r e sea r ch fa c u l t y award from USM. His research on self-healing coatings has been fea- tured by numerous media including the New York Times, Forbes maga- z i n e , B B C , N B C , D i s c o v e r y Channel, USA Today, Yahoo, and many other TV and radio stations around the world. Current research interests include self-healing poly- mers and coatings, understanding physico-chemical processes governing coatings responsiveness, the develop- m e n t of h e t e r o g e n e o u s s t i m u l i - Marek W.
