When I fi rst visited Hilton Head Island fi ve years ago, I passed the "Old Town Blu on" sign at Highway 278. I didn't think twice about the small town, but one day, I decided I needed to discover what was hidden back there. So, I followed the signs. I passed a second one, and a third one and still had not seen Old Town. I was soon back on Highway 278 feeling a little disappointed because I hadn't found the quaint town. So much has changed over the course of fi ve years, and now you could never miss charming Old Town Blu on while driving to the island. It is a town everyone raves about. It has been recognized as: - One of " e 50 Most Picturesque Towns in America" - Top 25 U.S. Cities for Retirement - #3 Best Towns to Raise a Family in SC - #11 Best Farmers Market in the Nation - One of "Americas 10 Happiest Seaside Towns" Hilton Head vacationers have always visited Charleston, Savannah and Beaufort, but now Blu on is at the top of the must-see day trip list. You can go back in time with a visit to Heyward House, explore Garvin Freedman's cottage, walk through the Historic District and enjoy stunning ocean views from the famous Church of the Cross. Or you can enjoy one of many Sunset Parties in Oyster Factory Park or live music inside and outside the various restaurants. e Promenade and May River Road off er a nice cup of coff ee and excellent restaurants for lunch and dinner. And did I mention that an original German Restaurant just opened there? If you haven't visited Old Town yet, I encourage you to do so soon!
