This year's selection of weavings is the strongest in years. There will be weavings from a major collection in New Mexico that is sure to awe those in attendance. During Saturday's sale collectors will have an opportunity to acquire some wildlife mounts that come around only once in a great while. A Boone and Crockett moose, Dall sheep, two great grizzly bear rugs and a full body wolverine are among the items that will add some spice to the sale. MIM has always been a favorite for collectors of the great Glacier Park artists and this year is no exception. There will be many offerings by John Fery including a large major Glacier Park piece of Swiftcurrent Falls. When John Fery came west for the first time in 1891 little did he know he would become one of the most famous painters of Glacier National Park. Louis Hill used his power as head of the Great Northern Railroad to lure Fery to do over 200 large paintings of the park. Many of the pieces still hang in lodges and hotels in and around the park. John L. Clarke, Philip Goodwin, Julius Seyler, Lone Wolf and other artists will also give Glacier Park collectors much to choose from. Works by past and present members of the Cowboy Artists of America will be well represented. Works by Joe Beeler, Irvin "Shorty" Shope, Frank McCarthy, John Clymer, Ken Riley, John Coleman, Gary Carter and many more will find new homes this year. First year partner Coeur d' Alene Galleries is excited to be bringing in a group of artists at the beginning of their careers to the sale. About a dozen pieces being offered are sure to generate some buzz among the attendees as the gallery sees nothing but upside from these talents. These artists include Abigail Gutting, Colt Idol, Jennifer Johnson and Ken Yarus. The bread and butter of the sale will continue to be Montana's favorite artists, those who have shaped the rich history the state has for producing great artists. Artists like Charlie Russell, Olaf C. Seltzer, Edgar Paxson, W. Steve Seltzer, Charles Fritz, Earle Heikka, Hank Lawshe, Joe Abbrescia, Terry Mimnaugh, Larry Zabel, Tucker Smith and of course Ace Powell are always crowd favorites. All of us at March in Montana are looking forward to seeing all the friends we have made over the years being in Great Falls to celebrate Charlie Russell's Birthday.
