40 October 2019 Tablets & Capsules PharmSci 360 a preview Annual AAPS conference to feature five tracks of chemical and biomolecule education PharmSci 360, the annual meet- ing of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), will take place November 3-6 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX. More than 6,000 scientists and other pharmaceutical professionals are expected to attend as well as hun- dreds of pharmaceutical manufac- turers, CDMOs, and R&D exhib- itors. The annual trade show and conference presents numerous net- working and learning opportunities for attendees. Short courses On Saturday, November 3, visi- tors can choose from several short courses to attend before the offi- cial start of the conference. Short cou r se topics include: essent ial st at ist ical thinking for bu siness and patient benefit; translational PKPD and first-in-human studies for novel modalities; the challenges of chemistr y, manufacturing, and controls (CMC); increasing effec- tiveness and dr ug safet y through patient-focused drug development; and an introduction to mechanistic modeling and simulation in PBPK modeling programs. Short courses are four or eight hours long and end before the opening plenar y speech by Dr. Peter Agre, co-re- cipient of the 2003 Nobel Prize in chemist r y, and the A A P S award ceremony at 5:00 pm. Education This year's show offers attend- ees five educational tracks explor- ing preclinical development, bio- analytics, clinical pharmacology, m a n u f a c t u r i n g a n d b i o p r o c e s s - ing, and formulation and quality. Each track is split into chemical and biomolecule topics, resulting in 10 sub-tracks covering the latest pharmaceutical research and chal- lenges. Sessions run from Monday to Wednesday and are 30 minutes to 2 hours long. Solution center PharmSci 360's solution center will be divided into neighborhoods m i r r o r in g t h e e d u c at ion t r a c k topics and will feat ure hundreds of exhibitors demonstrating their products and services and hosting interactive events. Additionally, more than 1,700 scientific posters will be on display in the solution center hall, presenting the latest pharmaceutical research. Attendees can also stop by the career develop- ment center in the solution center for job opportunities and guidance, management and communication training, or to edit their LinkedIn profiles and meet with recruiters.
