This year's theme "2020 Vision for Global Impact" will focus on the future of the controlled-release field in drug delivery, material science, pharmaceutics, bioengineering, consumer and diversified products, and veterinary science. Leading aca- demic and industry professionals have been invited to speak at the conference. The plenary address will be given by Yoshinori Ohsumi, PhD, of the Tokyo Institute of Technology, winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Med- icine for his research on the mecha- nisms of autophagy. Other speakers include Dr. Susan I. Gerber of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Kate Broderick, PhD, of Inovio Pharma- ceuticals who will present on the coronavirus outbreak. Dr. Ger- ber will cover the epidemiology of the virus and Broderick will dis- cuss developing DNA-based vac- cines against COVID-19 and other emerging infectious diseases.
