ASSOCIATION NEWS PCA forecasts dip in cement consumption into 2021 The Portland Cement Associa- tion (PCA) has released its annual Fall Forecast, which predicts that a decrease in cement consump- tion will continue into 2021. PCA, Skokie, IL, is a policy research, education, and market intelligence organization serving America's cement manufacturers. PCA's mar- ket intelligence based the near-term cement consumption prediction on a weighted average of three likely economic scenarios, estimating that cement consumption will fall by 1.5 percent for the remainder of 2020 and 0.9 percent in 2021. All scenar- ios take into account a signi cant increase in COVID-19 infections during the fourth quarter of 2020. The rst scenario assumes a U shape in the market that would entail an increase in COVID-19 consistent with many baseline epidemiologist's projections. The company already has other Ohio locations in Solon, Marysville, Cleveland, Brecksville, and Zanes- ville. Construction is expected to be complete in 2023 on the $550 million plant for dry dog foods including Purina Pro Plan, Purina One, and Dog Chow. The facility will be located in South Afton Industrial Park and will measure 1.2 million square feet in size once complete. The company will employ profes- sional staff, production operators, technical staff, and engineers.
