January 2021 / 33 Bulk Bag Unloading System Flowmatic EF500 bulk bag unloading system is fed by a set of motorized conveyors that deliver the bulk bag to a hydraulic gripper system. System has an integrated pallet stacker that removes the pallet once the bulk bag is removed. System's mostly autonomous bulk bag handling is done using a hydraulic gripper system, mounted on a bridge crane, which transfers the bulk bags from the conveyor to the discharge hoppers. System opens the bulk bag via cutting with a cross or U-shaped blade, depending on the bulk bag design. Palamatic Process, Philadelphia, PA 215-498-9303 www.palamaticprocess.com Bulk Bag Unloading System Activator bulk bag unloading system features chisel-bottom screw dis- chargers with dust-tight cover and cantilevered open-flight 6-inch auger to provide consistent and controlled powder and bulk solid material flow into a conveying line. System also features four pneumatically operated actuator petals that massage the bulk bag's lower portion, promoting opti- mal material flow through the bag's center. System uses lubrication-free pneumatic lifters that consume 50 percent less compressed air than air cylinders, resulting in lower operating costs. Vac-U-Max, Belleville, NJ 800-822-8629 www.vac-u-max.com Packaging System with Bulk Bag Unloaders Packaging system with bulk bag unloaders precisely packages flavored oatmeal with a series of hoist-and-trolley bulk bag unloaders, each han- dling a different bulk density material and equipped with pneumatic bag agitation for consistent and complete bulk bag discharge. System also includes a sifter, lump breaker, and bag-dump station for minor ingredi- ents. System conveys each material to the mezzanine level where a series of feeders and diverters allow the exact amount of each material to enter the final packaging line below. System is equipped with programmed PLC controls for the entire process. Hapman, Kalamazoo, MI 800-427-6260 www.hapman.com Bulk Bag Unloading Station Bulk bag unloading station has no traditional upper section but allows two bulk bags to be emptied simultaneously in side-by-side configura- tion. Station is suitable for restricted work areas with limited headroom or floor space. Station uses bulk bags in harnesses, lifted by a winch, that are placed over specially designed mobile docking stations. Station includes devices to ensure low dust emission during emptying. Station includes two feeding adapters per docking station. Volkmann, Bristol, PA 609-265-0101 www.volkmannusa.com
