January 2021 / 77 Explosion vent absorbs, redirects explosion energy, flames Targo-Vent explosion vent is an opening angle limiter developed for use with the supplier's explosion panels, which guides the pres- sure relief specifically into areas in which there's no danger to the adjoining infrastructure. Explosion vent absorbs the enormous repul- sive forces of explosion energy, guiding the flames and shock wave in the desired direction, either to a 30- to 45-degree upward angle or to the side. Explosion vent's top mod- ule is made in standard explosion panel sizes for retrofitting on sup- plier's existing panels without issue or needing to significantly alter the existing explosion protection plan. Rembe, Charlotte, NC 704-716-7022 www.rembe.us Drum dumper features safety cage for hands-free, automated operation Tip-Tite drum dumper with safety cage allows hands-free, auto- mated dumping of bulk solid materials from 30- to 55-gallon drums throughout the plant with no dusting or danger associated with sudden shifting of contents. Unit's three-sided carbon steel cage with safety interlocked doors is mounted on a mobile frame with quick- acting jack screws for stabil- ity. Unit's platform raises the drum hydraulically, creating a dust-tight seal between the drum's rim and the discharge cone's underside. Unit's second hydraulic cylinder then tips the platform-hood assem- bly, stopping it at a dump angle of either 45, 60, or 90 degrees with a motion-dampening feature, causing the discharge cone's spout to mate with a gasketed receiving ring on the lid of an enclosed hopper that charges a flexible screw conveyor. Flexicon, Bethlehem, PA 888-353-9426 www.flexicon.com transporting abrasive or heavy materials like shot blast, tumbling media, or metal fittings. Conveyor has a large throat diameter to con- vey more material at a rate that's typically twice that of ordinary air-powered conveyors. Conveyor is available in seven sizes from ¾ to 3 NPT to fit popular pipe sizes. Exair, Cincinnati, OH 800-903-9247 www.exair.com Device senses when rotating equipment stops, promotes equipment safety Model CMS (Compact Motion Switch) loss-of-motion device is for use on most rotating equipment, including overland conveyors, rotary valves, fans, crushers, delumpers, blenders, packaging equipment, and other machinery. Device is available in a weath- erproof or explosion-proof cast aluminum enclosure. Device has a dry, unpowered 5-amp DP/DT relay to control two separate out- put functions, such as equipment shutdown and external indication to a warning light or horn. Device is bi-directional, so it operates in either direction and is a direct-coupled device. Device can be epoxy-coated for corrosive environments.
