12 / July 2021 powderbulk.com these applicants illustrates the need this scholarship fills within our black and brown communities. The excitement from recipients and their families as we've notified each stu- dent has been overwhelming, and we are looking forward to building and growing the program to reach even more scholars in the future." ACC, Washington, DC, is an industry group that represents com- panies in the chemistry business. AIChE, New York, NY, promotes excellence in chemical engineer- ing education and global practice. Chemours, Wilmington, DE, is a global chemistry company with 37 manufacturing and laboratory sites in more than 120 countries. HBCU Week Foundation Inc.'s mission is to encourage high-school-aged youth to enroll into HBCUs, provide schol- arship dollars for matriculation, and sustain a pipeline for employment from undergraduate school to cor- porate America. Atlas Copco acquires US compressor distributor Atlas Copco, Nacka, Sweden, has acquired the operating assets of MidState Air Compressor, a distrib- utor of compressors, dryers, and related services. MidState offered services in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts and had about 15 employees with headquar- ters in Berlin, CT. The acquisition will allow Atlas Copco to focus on growing business and strength- ening its market presence in the region. The acquired business will become part of Quincy Compressor LLC, which is part of the Industrial Air division within the Compressor Technique Business Area. Atlas Copco is a global industrial group and provides sales, service, and marketing of industrial air compressors, blowers, industrial gas generators, process cooling unit as well as a vacuum and air gun for cleaning off parts. All pow- der retrieved is sent to a powder recycling system. ExOne designs industrial 3D printing systems using binder jet- ting technology that accepts metal, sand, ceramics, or other powder particle materials used to additively manufacture parts. FOSSI scholarship program reaches $7.2 million in funding The Future of STEM Scholars Ini- tiative (FOSSI) has received $7.2 million in funding with the sup- port of 43 chemical manufacturers and related industry stakehold- ers. The initiative has surpassed its 2021 funding goal to support STEM-related scholarships at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In its first year, the program will support 151 scholars, and multiyear commit- ments from some sponsors have raised an additional $4 million for future scholars. Scholarship recip- ients come from 26 states and are planning to attend 23 HBCUs. FOSSI was launched in 2020 by the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), The Chemours Co., and the HBCU Week Foundation. The initiative was created to address equity, diver- sity, and inclusion in the chemical industry and to forge pathways to careers in the industry for more underrepresented groups. The ini- tiative provides $10,000 per year for 4 years as well as opportunities for internships, mentoring, and leadership training. The initiative received more than 1,700 scholar- ship applicants. Ashley Christopher, founder and CEO of the HBCU Week Foundation, noted, "The incredible interest we saw from (EU) States have been informed of the conclusions and will consider what actions to take to ensure con- sumer protection. Further study will be done and the current des- ignation doesn't mean that TiO 2 is being banned. This new des- ignation is only for TiO 2 used in foods, not in other applications. The ingredient is used as a food coloring and is typically used in fine bakery wares, soups, broths, sauces, and processed nuts. EFSA, Parma, Italy, is an agency of the EU and carries out risk assessments from the European Commission, the European Par- liament, or Member States using scientific panels or its scientific committee and additional experts as needed to come to a consensus on different food safety issues. ExOne, Solukon partner on depowdering station design ExOne Co., North Huntington, PA, has announced a partner- ship with Solukon Maschinenbau GmbH, Augsburg, Germany, to develop a depowdering station for use with ExOne's X1 160Pro production metal binder jetting additive manufacturing machine. The collaboration solves the greater powder handling required, both initially and for reuse within a manufacturing environment. Solukon specializes in powder removal and processing systems for metal and polymer additive manufacturing machines. The new processing system, X1DPS 160, will be manufactured near ExOne's facility in Gersthofen, Germany. The system accepts the post- printing build box and fea- tures glove ports on both sides to allow individuals to depowder or unpack the build box. The chamber that surrounds the build box has an integrated HEPA dust-extraction
