July 2021 / 51 WHAT'S NEW PBE Electromagnetic separator removes contaminants down to parts per billion purity CG-X electromagnetic separator removes ferrous and stainless steel contaminants from base materi- als such as lithium, carbon black, and cobalt to create high-purity product with less than parts per billion contamination. Separator's magnetic flux density without screens is 6,000 gauss, and with the screen set, the flux density increases to 185,000 to 195,000 gauss, depending on the model. Separator has 181 percent of the flux density of the supplier's previous high-flux-density unit, making it the first electromag- netic separator that can conform to purity levels in the parts per billion range. Separator measures 98.43 by 59.06 by 62.6 inches, with multiple models available for increased throughput. Separator has various screen designs available, including a standard screen with 5-, 7-, 10-, 12-, 15-, or 20- millimeter pitch; honeycomb; ring; and micropitch, with the required number of screens varying by model.
