This gold-inlaid and engraved Model
1849 Pocket Revolver is one of only six
in existence. Manufactured in 1854,
the gun was presumably created for
display at the Paris Exposition of 1855.
Opposite: This engraving of Samuel Colt
graced the frontispiece of Arsmear,
a memorial book on Col. Colt.
