73  73 WASHINGTON, D.C. a person impersonating a police officer knocked on their door to harass them. One long-serving elected leader told Paula and me over lunch that they are careful as to what they say publicly (and presumably positions they take), out of fear. She said, "I don't fear much for myself, but mostly for my children. ey could attack my kids." Our Bible study that day looked at a text in which the Apostle Peter acted wrongly because he was afraid. e topic of fear prompted considerable discussion. Some spoke of the peace they have because of their faith and the hope of the resurrection. Perhaps the most encouraging experience we have enjoyed is the gratitude expressed by those who attend the Bible studies. Members of each group have thanked us for the effort we are making to serve them. ey understand that Capitol Ministries is a "first class," high quality ministry because of the sacrifice of others, including our financial partners and behind-the-scenes staff. When members enter the room, they see each place at the table has a CapMin Bible study on a selected topic (homework assignment, we tell them), and a Bible opened to the text we will study that day. Sitting down to breakfast with an open Bible before each attender is a powerful visual reflecting the purpose of our gathering. In 2026 we will continue what we've been doing, which is preparing quality Bible study opportunities for our Washington, D.C., leaders. We'll also continue one-on-one visits with members to get to know them better and pray for them. e best way to involve new leaders in the Bible studies is for those currently participating to invite their colleagues. ey will be eager and willing to invite others to participate if they are confident it will be worth their time and effort. I use the word "participate," because we don't want people to merely attend, but to participate and "own" the study. ank you for your support of Capitol Ministries. CapMin is truly making a significant impact in Washington, D.C., as the only in-depth Bible-teaching ministry for Senators, House members, and the White House Cabinet. 73
