Our focus remains the same as always – how to best serve the needs of our customers in the office machine and business equipment industry. Our original Locator Magazine has been an industry leader for almost a quarter of a century, and is mailed to over 26,000 office machine and business equipment dealers, resellers and sup- pliers. The recent trend – and it’s a strong one -- is towards internet advertising. Many of the world’s largest and most successful publishers are internet driven, having eliminated their print products. Print publishers are struggling – many of them have gone out of business, reduced their services or circulation, or are in bankruptcy. It’s becoming obvious that print alone won’t satisfy the needs of companies wanting to market their products and services. Dan Blank is the founder of We Grow Media, an online media consulting and training company. For a decade, he worked as Director of Content Strategy and Development for Reed Business Information, a B2B publisher and media company. He says there is one trend that never goes away: Focusing on the crit- ical needs of your customers. To do this, he says you must do your research – know your market, know your customers, and provide products that serve their needs and passions. Focus on the customer – build something that affects their lives and their business in profound ways. Focus on the needs that keep your customers up at night, and how to provide solutions to those needs. As the internet becomes the number one choice for developing and maintaining new business, Asay Media Network has made the decision to lead, rather than follow, and is making a strong move towards the inter- net. We have done our research, and we are focusing on the needs of our customers by providing the nec- essary products and services that provide solutions to those needs. We’re doing this in the following ways: 1) Our new Locator.com home page has been updated to include links to all our publications, as well as links to featured products for sale on OMBE, classified ads, employment ads, OMBE storefronts, links to ads on Locator’s online page flip version and more. This new page will make it a lot easier for active buyers and sellers to find the products and services they need. To see a sample page of the new Locator Magazine website see pages 44 & 45. 2) OMBE.com – one of the industry’s fastest growing websites for buyers and sellers of office machines, business equipment, supplies and services. In building OMBE, we researched many successful web sites as models. We then created features and benefits that are traditionally requested, and in many ways, unique to the office machine and business equipment industry. 42 May 2011 Locator Magazine
