22 22 2010 Mara D'Amico, B.S.B.A. in international business. Mara co-authored a paper that was recently published in the Arkansas Journal of Social Change and Public Service. The paper is titled "Law 779: Addressing Violence Against Women in Nicaragua." She also completed all of her fi eld service work and defended her master's capstone in March. She will graduate from the Clinton School of Public Service with a Master of Public Service degree in May. Don Kirk, B.S.B.A. in general management. He received his M.B.A. in 2011. Don started working as a pricing analyst for Meijer at its corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids on Dec. 9, 2013. Nickolas Schwagle, B.A.A. in entrepreneurship and food service administration. Nick recently fi nished his M.B.A. at Eastern Michigan University and is hoping for a promotion with his employer. 2007 Heather Lynn Scott, B.A.A. in entrepreneurship. Heather and her husband, Lonnie, '05, are happy to announce the recent birth of their daughter, Madison, born on Oct. 4, 2013. Heather and Lonnie also have a son named Landyn. Heather's father, Tim Hillman, also graduated from the College of Business in 1979. 2006 Ethan Fackler, B.S.B.A. in international business and Lauren (Vesey) Fackler, both class of '06, welcomed a potential future Chip, named Ella Rosslyn, into the world in May 2013. Ethan also recently accepted a new position as national account manager for Eaton's Cooper Lighting Business. Lauren, B.S. in health fi tness & preventive & rehabilitative science, continues to love her career as a physical therapist for Athletico. They reside in Chicago, Illinois. Stacey Zafi roff , B.S.B.A. in accounting and fi nance. Stacey started a new position in November 2013 at Toyota Motor Sales USA (located in Torrance, California) as a dealer market planner. Her job entails performing market studies on diff erent regions in the United States to determine where to position their dealers to ensure Toyota is competitively represented. 2005 Michael Schuette, B.S.B.A. in hospitality services administration. Mike earned the JPMorgan Chase Presidents Club award for 2013. This award is given to the top 25 private bankers in the company. Mike also passed his CFA Level 1 Exam. A L U M N I D I G E S T S P R I N G 2 0 1 4 Leslie Thielen, B.S.B.A. in general business administration. Leslie was promoted to assistant vice president, consumer loans at Isabella Bank. She has been with the bank since 2004. She also attended the Perry Schools of Banking and the Dale Carnegie Team Development Program. She is a member of the Home Builders Association of Central Michigan, Home Builders Association Women's Council and the Central Michigan Association of Realtors. 2004 Michael D. Curtiss, B.S.B.A. in fi nance. Michael was recently promoted to the position of senior analytic consultant at Truven Health Analytics in Chicago. 2002 Brad Howes, B.S.B.A. in corporate fi nance. Brad was recently named senior vice president and director of investor relations for Flagstar Bank. He has been with Flagstar for almost seven years. Brad also earned a law degree from the University of Detroit in 2010. 1999 Brandon Bissell, B.S.B.A. in marketing. Brandon was recently invited to become a member of the Recording Academy, known for its awards show, the Grammys. To become a member, you must show a "signifi cant contribution to the music industry." He had the chance to walk the red carpet before attending the Grammys and a few days later, got engaged in San Francisco. Christen (Chrisy) Guthman, B.S.B.A. in marketing, logistics management and Spanish. After graduating, Christy worked as a buyer/ planner in the automotive and high-tech sectors located in the U.S. and in Mexico. She later joined the United States Peace Corps. In Guinea, West Africa, she created community solar drying food cooperatives and developed medical plant guides to support traditional healing methods. She returned to school and obtained her M.B.A. from Cornell University in 2009. After business school, Christy joined GE's Renewable Energy Leadership Program. She completed rotations in business development, marketing, commercialization and sales in both wind and solar. She accepted her off -program role as the regional renewables account manager and relocated to Minneapolis from São Paulo, Brazil. Last year she was promoted to a senior position. Christy and her husband also welcomed the birth of their fi rst child, Birch, in July. 1998 Laura Marshall, B.S.B.A. in economics. Laura was named Colonial Life 2013 District General Agent Offi ce of the Year, State of Michigan and received the 2013 People Development Award. These are the top two awards at the state level. Kenneth J. Sanney, '98, teaches business law and regulation at CMU. Previously, he was an entertainment and copyright attorney in Nashville, Tennessee, and still serves as a voting member of the Country Music Association. He was recently appointed to serve on the board of directors of the CMU Research Corp. His most recent publication, "Balancing the Friction: How a Constitutional Challenge to Copyright Law Could Realign the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment" appears in the Columbia Science and Technology Law Review, an Ivy League publication. 1993 Scott Simnitch, B.S.B.A. in management. On Oct. 1, 2013, Scott enrolled in the Caterpillar Six Sigma training program, and on Jan. 10, he received his Six Sigma Black Belt. 22
