Missouri Western State University DEAN, STEVEN L. CRAIG SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Missouri Western State University (MWSU) offers an innovative and energetic applicant a rare opportunity to lead the Steven L. Craig School of Business (CSB) with an appointment as Dean beginning July 1, 2010. We seek an accomplished and collegial leader with the knowledge, experience, and vision to lead this growing school of business through its transformational stages and into the forefront of schools in its class. The Dean is the chief academic officer for the School and reports to the Provost. Craig School of Business: CSB is the largest academic unit at MWSU with 19 full-time faculty and approxi- mately 800 students seeking BSBA degrees with majors in finance, accounting, management and marketing. The School offers students a unique focus on entrepreneurial learning that requires all graduates to complete an applied learning experience, where academic knowledge is applied to actual business settings. In 2008, Steven L. Craig became Missouri Western's largest contributor in the near 100 year history of the institution. His 5.5 million dollar gift supported the creation of our new school of business now known as the Steven L. Craig School of Business. The CSB is in the final stages of AACSB accreditation, and is preparing for an exciting future. Key Responsibilities: The Dean provides leadership and oversight for the CSB: • Serves as the administrative and financial officer of the School • Evaluates School faculty and staff • Oversees recruiting, scheduling, and staffing • Creates and maintains successful partnerships with individuals, businesses, and institutions regionally, nationally and internationally to fulfill the CSB mission • Represents the CSB on regional boards, committees and community organizations • Oversees curriculum development and AACSB accreditation priorities • Collaborates effectively with the higher education community • Leads the individual and collective components of the CSB • Increases the level of donor support for the CSB Required Qualifications: • Earned doctorate in one of the academic disciplines represented in the CSB • 3-5 years of academic administrative experience • AACSB accreditation experience • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills that will enhance the reputation of the School and assist in attracting external gifts, grants, contracts, and mutually beneficial partnerships • Ability to build and work with teams within the CSB and the University • Record of teaching, scholarship, and service that qualifies for a tenure appointment within the CSB Missouri Western State University: MWSU is a model for the new American regional university with nearly a century of history and a current student population of approximately 6,000 and well over 19,000 engaged alumni. This picturesque university, now celebrating four consecutive years of record enrollment, sits on over 700 beautiful acres just 35 minutes north of Kansas City International Airport. Missouri Western has recently experienced record- breaking monetary gifts in addition to its record-breaking enrollments. Eighty-two percent of its faculty hold the highest degree in their field. Missouri Western offers a full array of intercollegiate athletics and will become the new summer home of the Kansas City Chiefs football team in July 2010.
