Burr serves as ranking member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee where he works to improve the quality of health care and service veterans receive. He also sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, the Health, Educa- tion, Labor, and Pensions Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Indian Affairs Committee. After graduating from Wake Forest University, Burr began his career by spend- ing seventeen years in business with Carswell Distributing, a wholesale commercial products company. He currently serves as a Board Member of Brenner Children's Hospital. Burr and his wife, Brooke, have two sons. Scott Cosby V.P. Products & Operations Invincea, Inc. Scott Cosby is an experienced software executive with a successful record of imple- menting new strategies and driving execution across global business operations. He has more than 18 years of proven achievements with organizations of varying sizes, from start-up companies to Fortune 100 businesses. Scott has led teams working with products ranging from commercial to open source software utilizing product-based and consulting services business models. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia. Nancy Dorn Vice President, Corporate Government Relations General Electric Company Nancy Dorn joined GE as Vice President for Government Relations in May 2003 after a diverse and distin- guished career in government. She served as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush and as Assistant to Vice President Dick Cheney. Dorn had previously served as Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Inter-American Affairs) in the administration of George H.W. Bush. She was on the White House staff under Presidents Reagan and Bush and also was a Deputy Assis- tant Secretary of State during the Reagan administration. Her career in Washington began in 1981, when she worked in the House of Representatives for Congressman Tom Loeffler of Texas, first on his leadership staff and then on the House Appropriations Committee staff. Nancy started her own consulting firm in 1993 and then joined with a Washington, DC-based firm, Hooper, Hooper, Owen & Gould in 1996. George "Bud" Garikes Director of Upper School St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School George "Bud" Garikes is Director of the Upper School at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, a JK-12 coed Episcopal school in Alexandria, Virginia, where he also teaches AP US Government. He has been a member of the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes community for 11 years and Upper School director for 7 years. Prior to his career in educa- tion, Garikes worked as a lawyer in government and the private sector. His first job in Washing- ton was with the office of Representative John H. Buchanan, Jr. of Alabama. He is a member of District of Columbia and Alabama Bar Associa- tions. A native of Alabama, Garikes earned his BA in history and JD from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. He and his wife, Margaret, have two children, who both graduated from St. Stephen's & St. Agnes. Bruce Heiman Senior Partner K&L Gates Bruce Heiman has repre- sented companies and trade associations in technology, trade, postal, financial services, transportation, and manufacturing industries.
