B. Freeman School of Business is conducting a search to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Dean for Academic Programs. This position will be filled as an Assistant Dean (staff) or as an Associate Dean (fac- ulty) depending on a selected candidate's credentials and experience. This position is a member of the management team of the Freeman School and is responsible for plan- ning, organizing, coordinating, staffing, and supervising academic support services for the Freeman School's Undergraduate and Graduate Programs and the Management Communications Center. The position manages the Office of Academic Programs, which provides student services to these programs including registration, student counseling and advising, student records, monitoring of academic perform- ances, advising of student organizations, and certification for graduation. The posi- tion supports faculty committees (academic integrity, academic performance) and serves on the Undergraduate and Graduate Curriculum Committees. The curriculum committees lead in the review and revision of academic programs. The Assistant/Associate Dean takes a leadership role in the business school relating to degreed programs and curriculum development. The position reports to and works closely with the Senior Associate Dean and works with the Freeman Faculty in sched- uling and staffing of courses, in program reviews and evaluations, and in dealing with a broad range of day-to-day academic and administrative issues. The position also works closely with students and other administrative areas to ensure that program- matic goals and objectives are achieved. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. • PhD required. • Appropriate academic and administrative experience required, preferably in a major private business school. • Knowledge of management education required. • Proven management and leadership skills required. CHAIR of the BUSINESS DEPARTMENT The Wayne State University School of Business Administration is seeking a Chair for the newly formed Business Department in the School of Business Administration. The School is undergoing restructuring to form two academic depart- ments, Accounting and Business. The Business Department will consist of approximately 40 full time faculty members from the disciplines of finance, information systems, logistics, management, marketing and production/operations management. The Chair will help lead the School to its next stage of development that is expected to include a Ph.D. Program. The preferred candidate will come from one of the discipline areas in the business department and qualify for a tenured appointment. Preferred applicants or nominees should have a doctoral degree and have demonstrated the highest level of academic leadership including publications in leading academic journals and have previous academic administrative experi- ence. Additionally, the selected candidate will have proficiency in teaching undergraduate and graduate business students. The chosen candidate must be able to work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and other constituents in the School as well as with alumni and members of the business community. The Business Department Chair will be responsible for undergraduate and masters programs in business administration as well as departmental faculty research and development. Reporting to the Chair will be an Assistant Chair and two administrative assistants. Wayne State University, with an enrollment of more than 33,000 students, is a Carnegie Research Extensive University. The School of Business Administration is one of 13 schools and colleges comprising the University academic community. The School of Business Administration, accredited by AACSB International, grants the BA, BS, MBA, MS in Accounting and MS in Taxation degrees. The School enrolls 1,000 upper division undergraduate and 1,300 graduate stu- dents. The School offers undergraduate majors in Accounting, Business Logistics, Finance, Information Systems and Manufacturing, Management, and Marketing.
