Blister testing
CT3 texture analyzer (left) quantifies
force needed to expel tablet or capsule
from blister packaging. After sample is
placed on support fixture (closeup,
right), finger-like probe descends to
exert pressure, expelling tablet or cap-
sule from foil side of package. Both
probe and support fixture are customiz-
able to size and shape of product and
blister package. Texture analyzer also
performs compression and tension tests
to determine force required to split hard
capsules; adhesive force of tablet coat-
ings; strength of bi-layer tablet bond;
how well tablets adhere to mucosal sur-
faces, and more. Optional TexturePro
CT software generates custom reports
and graphs.

Enclony Planet 4.8 TC tablet and cap-
sule inspector uses 11 2D and two 3D
cameras
to detect tablet and capsule
defects, empty capsules, and damage to
any surface. Cameras and sensors are
hidden behind glass window, where air
curtain protects against dust, eliminat-
ing manual cleaning. Unit automatically
visually inspects 350,000 tablets per
hour and as many as 150,000 capsules
per hour. It handles all shapes and sizes.
Changeover takes as little as 10 min-
utes, and you can program new product
parameters in 30 minutes. Features
include jam-free product sorting and
dust extraction module.
