6 October 2016 Tablets & Capsules research Researchers encapsulate insulin with lipids NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY— Researchers at Niagara University encapsulated insulin using neutral, lipid-based particles they developed called CholestosomesTM. The natu- rally occurring lipids resist stomach acids, allowing the insulin to pass through the stomach and intestines without degrading. Animal studies showed that some formulations of insulin-loaded CholestosomesTM are highly bioavailable. The researchers plan to optimize the formulation and conduct more animal testing. Researchers claim first new asthma tablet in 20 years LEICESTER, UK—Researchers at the University of Leicester said they developed the first new asthma tablet in nearly 20 years using fevipiprant. In a study of 61 patients, the tablet significantly decreased the symptoms of asthma, improved lung function, reduced inflammation, and repaired the lining of airways. In addition to the medications participants were already taking, one group took 225 milligrams of fevipiprant orally twice daily for 12 weeks. All others took a placebo. In the treated group, the percentage of sputum eosinophil— which is higher in people with asthma—decreased from an average of 5.4 percent to 1.1 percent over 12 weeks. The results of the study appear in the September 2016 issue of The Lancet Respiratory Medicine. markets Inspection machines market to exceed $396.4 million by 2021 PUNE, INDIA—The global market for inspection machines is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 5.9 percent, reaching $396.4 Million by 2021, according to a report by MarketsandMarkets.
