Catalent and Pfizer have col- laborated for 20 years on the devel- opment and manufacture of Advil Liqui-Gels. It is already being manu- factured at Catalent's St. Petersburg, FL, facility. Catalent will also work with Acella Pharmaceuticals, Atlanta, GA, to develop and commercialize abuse- deterrent opioids using Catalent's OptiGel Lock softgels. Innophos acquires Novel Ingredients CRANBURY, NJ—Innophos, a pharmaceutical and nutraceutical excipient manufacturer, acquired Novel Ingredients, a natural ingredi- ents supplier located in East Hanover, NJ. The seller, private- equity firm GenNx360 Capital Partners, New York, NY, purchased Novel in March 2014. Robinson Pharma opens production facility SANTA ANA, CA—Robinson Pharma, a nutraceutical contract manufacturer, opened a 129,084- square-foot manufacturing facility here. The facility houses tabletting, capsule filling, and powder opera- tions, and features a Fette 2200i tablet press, Bosch GKF Capsylon 3005 capsule filler, and Freund- Vector VHC 170L1 Hi-Coater. Bilcare opens Chinese office SHANGHAI, China—Bilcare Research, which supplies polymer films and aluminum foils for use in pharmaceutical blister packaging, opened an office here. The new office will provide sales, service, and technical support to the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. Schenck Process renovates plant for stainless steel production WHITEWATER, WI—Schenck Process renovated its main plant here, replacing carbon steel manufac- turing with stainless steel production. The facility is expected to be opera- tional by October 1. The company manufactures pneumatic conveying, weighing, and feeding systems. Gamlen taps ABL&E as distributor in Eastern Europe, publishes study NOTTINGHAM, UK—Gamlen Instruments appointed ABL&E, a dis- tributor of pharmaceutical laboratory equipment, Budapest, Hungary, as its exclusive distributor in Eastern Europe. In other news, Gamlen published a study on the effect of adding ascorbic acid to JRS Pharma's Prosolv Easytab excipient. Using the Gamlen D series powder compaction analyzer, researchers found that the excipient allowed materials containing 40 per- cent ascorbic acid to maintain excel- lent compaction characteristics. ExciPact certifies ACG, JRS Pharma sites BRUSSELS, Belgium—ExciPact cer- tified ACG Associated Capsules' site in Khandala, India, and JRS Pharma's site in Chongqing, China. ExciPact is a voluntary international body that offers third-party GMP certification of excip- ient manufacturing sites. Pfizer installs Coperion K-Tron feeders in Freiburg facility FREIBURG, Germany—Pfizer Manufacturing Deutschland installed two feeding systems manufactured by Coperion K-Tron, Niederlenz, Switzerland, at its plant here. They'll be used in a continuous production line. Ropack puts its New York facility up for sale COMMACK, NY—Ropack Phar- ma Solutions is selling its 103,530- square-foot pharmaceutical and research facility located here. The facility is licensed for DEA Schedule II to V substances and houses 16 process development and commercial manu- facturing suites, as well as analytical laboratories. It also includes tempera- ture- and humidity-controlled produc- tion suites, USP water system, com- pressed air, GMP manufacturing clean rooms, and warehouses. Alcami moves global headquarters to North Carolina DURHAM, NC—Alcami, a phar- maceutical CDMO, will move its global headquarters from Wilmington, NC to here. The company's executives will work at both locations until the transition is complete in 2018. TruTag receives technology innovation award SANTA CLARA, CA—Frost & Sullivan, a global research and con- sulting firm, San Antonio, TX, named TruTag Technologies the winner of its 2017 North American award for technology innovation. TruTags offers microtags of silicon dioxide that allow pharmaceutical companies and other customers to identify, authenticate, and track their products through the supply chain. Agilent acquires Cobalt Light Systems SANTA CLARA, CA—Agilent Technologies, a supplier of labora- tory instruments, acquired Cobalt Light Systems, Oxfordshire, UK, a supplier of Raman spectroscopic instruments. Agilent is expected to retain Cobalt's 52 employees. Paul Loeffen, Cobalt's chief executive offi- cer, was named Agilent's director of Raman spectroscopy. Idifarma installs Bosch capsule filler PAMPLONA, SPAIN—Idifarma installed a Bosch GKF 702 capsule filler at its site here. The capsule filler produces as many 42,000 hard cap- sules per hour and includes a minia- ture bowl for small R&D batches.
