Patheon to invest in spray drying, packaging, serialization DURHAM, NC—Patheon will spend $45 million to upgrade several sites. The Florence, SC, site will add a 15,000-square-foot commercial and development spray drying suite, which is expected to be online in 2019. The company will also expand the spray drying suite at its Bend, OR, site by adding an analytical lab and manufacturing suite and by expanding development-scale spray drying. At its Greenville, NC, site, Patheon has already built a 4,800- square-foot filling and packaging suite that will include serialization equipment from Optel. Evonik, DSM to open omega-3 facility BLAIR, NE—DSM Nutritional Products, Heerlen, Netherlands, and Evonik Nutrition & Care, Essen, Germany, will open a production facility here for their marine algae- sourced omega-3 fatty acids business. Veramaris, the joint company, is expected to open the site in 2019.
