6 March 2018 Tablets & Capsules A s winter draws to an end here in Minnesota, so does an era at Tablets & Capsules magazine. This issue marks the departure of editor Matthew Knopp, who has decided to pursue other interests, many of which we suspect will be located at or around his cabin in the North Woods. Matt was the e ditor of T&C since its inception in 2003, and he worked tirelessly to build the magazine into a respected source for useful and engaging information for readers who formulate, manufacture, and package solid dosage forms. We wish Matt the best of luck and thank him for his years of dedicated and exceptional service. My name is Nate Todd, and I'm the new editor at T&C. I was previ- ously an editor at T&C's sister publication, Powder and Bulk Engineering. In fact, my office was next door to Matt's, with just one thin wall between us. For years I've seen (and heard) the passion and dedica- tion Matt put into each issue of T&C, and—along with associate edi- tor Karina Basso and the entire T&C staff—I'm committed to main- taining those high standards. We think you'll find that this issue is no exception. In our outsourcing focus article, Christa Myers and Kevin Debbs of CRB USA discuss factors to consider when selecting a contract manufacturing organiza- tion. Other article topics include developing fixed-dose combina- tions, improving API solubility with spray-dried dispersions, and trends in the solid oral dosage delivery market. And in our "Eye on Excipients" column, Kirti Vatsa of Beroe Consulting explains why pharmaceutical companies in developed markets are increasingly finding India to be an attractive source for pharmaceutical excipients. We also preview three important upcoming trade shows/confer- ences—Interphex, CPhI North America, and ExcipientFest. Finally, the "Back Page" column, written by Scott Garverick of Pharma Packaging Solutions, returns to our outsourcing focus to offer ques- tions you should be asking when choosing a contract packaging organization. We hope you enjoy the issue, and we welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions. Please submit them to ntodd@cscpub.com or call me at 651 287 5625.
