26 May 2018 Tablets & Capsules Powder, capsule conveyor Company's powder and granule handling systems operate under dilute-phase vacuum conveying to continuously transfer powders, additives, fillers, and granular materials to capsule fillers, refill systems, tablet presses, and continuous pharmaceutical extruders. Low-rate conveyors meet FDA specifications and transfer material directly from the receipt container, eliminating manual material loading. Systems minimize exposure to fugitive dust, ensuring operator safety in processes handling combustible dusts. Vacuum- conveyor has few moving parts, making it easy to clean, and a gas pulse releases accumulated dust and material from the filter. After material is discharged into the feed hopper, a valve closes and the receiver begins the vacuum cycle, preparing for the next fill request. Receivers automate any process and can also be used as refill devices, drawing material from drums, bags, bulk bags, intermediate bulk containers, flexible intermediate bulk containers, or super sacks. Vac-U-Max, Belleville, NJ 800 822 8629 www.vac-u-max.com Dust collector Stand-alone dust collector removes airborne dust from upstream processes and discharges it into a container below the collection hopper to protect workers, improve plant hygiene, and eliminate material waste. Collector features dual cartridge filters, a 1.5-kilowatt fan motor, a 70-liter collection hopper with a flanged slide-gate valve, and automated controls. Upstream dust-generating processes vent to the system through hard piping or a flexible connection and connect to the collector's housing through a 6-inch-diameter side inlet port. At timed intervals, the unit's integral automatic reverse-pulse filter cleaning system releases short blasts of compressed plant air causing dust buildup on the filters to fall into the hopper. When the receiving hopper is full, an indicator light on the control panel notifies the operator. Stainless-steel housing and support structure, together with NEMA 4X water-resistant controls and wash-down-duty fan motor, allow rapid cleaning or sanitizing of the entire unit between product runs. Company also offers bulk bag dischargers fitted with integral dust collection systems. Flexicon, Bethlehem, PA 610 814 2400 www.flexicon.com Cartridge dust collector Downflo Evolution series cartridge dust collectors decrease the number of filters by as much as 40 percent compared to conventional cartridge collectors, reducing filter replacement costs. Its "dropout zone" pre-separates large dust particles, reduces pressure drop, and minimizes filter abra- sion. MaxPulse cleaning system uses a double-diverging pulse nozzle that shapes the cleaning airstream to match the filter shape, delivering 27 percent more energy to the media to ensure effective cleaning. "Triagonal" cartridges position more filter media at the bottom than round cartridges, directing more dust toward the collection hopper. Asymmetrical yokes ensure that cartridges are sealed and aligned properly for cleaning. Ultra-Web nanofiber media uses a layer of fibers as small as 0.2 to 0.3 micron in diameter to surface-capture contaminants smaller than 1 micron.
