26 Founded in 1965, Magnolia Regional Health Center is a state-of- the-art healthcare facility that serves Corinth, Alcorn County, and the surrounding region. Licensed for 200 beds, MRHC has a medi- cal staff of 108 active staff/courtesy physicians, practicing 28 medical specialties. Medical specialties practiced at Magnolia Regional Health Center include: anesthesiology, cardiology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, emergency medicine, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, hema- tology, oncology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmol- ogy, oral/maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, orthopaedic hand surgery, orthopaedic spine surgery, otolaryngology, pathol- ogy, pediatrics, plastic/ reconstructive surgery, psychiatry, pulmonol- ogy, radiation oncology, radiology, rehabilitation, urology, and vascular surgery. In 2009, MRHC opened The Cancer Center at Magnolia, a 17,000 square-foot signature facility in which physicians, hospital staff and supportive care professionals collaborate and focus on patient care and satisfaction. The Cancer Center offers state-of-the-art radi- ation therapy technology, including IMRT and IGRT; integrated medical oncology and chemotherapy services; clinical research offices; and supportive care services and resources for patients and families. Medical oncology services are provided by The West Clinic, and radiation oncology services are provided by Radiation Oncology of North Mississippi. The Cancer Center at Magnolia offers the community the latest advances and information in prevention, screenings, and education, allowing Magnolia Regional Health Center to promote health and recovery, as well as deliver quality care that is in line with the finest cancer centers in America. Additionally in June 2009, MRHC participated in a survey by the State of Mississippi Department of Health Trauma System and was reclassified from a Level IV to a Level III trauma facility. In July 2009, MRHC's Cardiovascular ECHO Lab received national accred- itation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL). The application process involved extensive review of both the technolo- gists' and physicians' skills in performing and inter- preting echocardiograms. Accreditation status signi- fies MRHC's commitment to quality testing for diag- nosis of heart disease. In the summer of 2011, MRHC opened the Women's Center at Corinth and the Women's Center at Walnut. Each of these clinics offers all encompassing women's care including: annual well woman exams; hormone replacement therapy; follow-up treat- ments for abnormal pap smears; family planning – birth control; consultations for surgery including – hysterectomy, tubal ligation, bladder repairs; treatment of endometriosis, minor female infec- tions, bartholin's cysts, irregular menses, and other women's health issues; fertility consultations; prenatal & obstetrical care; all women's preventative health; and more. MRHC is continually looking for ways in which the hospital can better serve the needs of the community. It is the ongoing goal of 26
