33 Corinth Artist Guild The Corinth Artist Guild is a non-profit organization formed in 2003. The Guild depends on volunteers to keep its doors open along with its approximately 200 members to pay the expenses through their membership donations. Mississippi Art Sales, LLC operates the Gallery, makes the sales, and pays the artist a 65% commission once their artwork has sold. Mississippi Art Sales then donates the remaining 35% to the Corinth Artist Guild to be used toward operating expenses. The mission of the Corinth Artist Guild is to be a catalyst for local artists and craftsmen. They seek to stimulate and encourage the study and presentation of the visual arts and participation, appreciation, and education in the arts to meet the needs and aspirations of the community in this area. We encourage excellence in workmanship as well as freedom of artistic expression for people of all ages in Corinth and surrounding areas. The Corinth Artist Guild seeks to support the development of the community through the arts, strengthen education in and through the arts, increase the knowledge of and pride in Mississippi arts and culture, and recognize and encourage Mississippi artists. Currently, 80 artists display their work in the Gallery. During the Guild's first year there were 64 members, and now membership has grown to more than 200 members. Periodically, workshops are given featuring different media by accomplished artists. The fees charged for the classes vary according to the instructor's requirements. During the months of April or May, the Gallery features the artwork of local students. For two weeks in the month of June, an art camp for children ages 6 through 13 is offered for a reasonable fee. The work of these young artists is featured in the Gallery during July. During the rest of the year an opening reception is held monthly to introduce the new featured adult artists and their works. The Guild has recently established a Bridal Gift Registry in the hope that unique items selected by the bride-to-be will be purchased by her friends and family. With the approval of the artist, the Guild displays art in the lobbies of Corinth Theatre-Arts, Cooley and Labas Financial Advisors, John O. Windsor, Attorney-at-Law, and the auditorium of the Corinth Public Library as well as other area businesses. The works from this community art outreach effort may be purchased at the Corinth Artist Guild Gallery, 609 North Fillmore Street, Corinth. The Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am until 4pm and by appointment. The Gallery number is (662) 665-0520 or after hours at (662) 415-2688.
