46 Workforce Training Northeast Mississippi Community College's Workforce Training & Economic Development Division is home to Adult Basic Education/GED testing, Workforce Development and Training, Continuing Education and WIA (Workforce Investment Act) programs/WIN Job Centers. The Division of Workforce Training & Economic Develop- ment team at Northeast Mississippi Community College is dedicated to improving the local economy by improving the skill competencies of the current and future workforce. Programs and services are designed to enhance an individ- ual's work readiness skills and ensure Northeast Mississippi workers have the skills needed to compete in today's glob- ally competitive environment. Training is provided to area employers when specific employee skills need to be developed, improved or enriched to keep up with production or technological advances. The ultimate goal of the workforce program is to develop a seamless workforce training system that ensures the presence of a highly skilled workforce, thereby advancing the economic prosperity of the region by supporting existing industries as well as creating new high-skill and high-wage job opportunities for job seekers. Some of the services provided include: • Pre-employment screening based on review of capabilities required to perform the job tasks. • Coordinate training to fill skills gap as identified. • Develop customized training to improve productivity and efficiency. • Using established partnerships between other colleges and economic developers to provide employment needs.
