49 The Corinth Police Department also sponsors the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program. A sworn, uniformed officer teaches the program to local elementary students. The City of Corinth handles its wastewater needs with a Class IV, 4.7 million gallons per day wastewater treatment plant. The Class IV ratings are the highest under Mississippi guidelines. The city maintains over 400 miles of sewer lines and 53 pumping stations with 13 full-time employees. The City of Corinth is ready to serve the needs of the homebuilders, as well as new retail and manufacturing customers. The Street Department provides many services to our city including the removal of residential garbage, leaves and limbs, and discarded household items. Commercial businesses may also choose to use the city garbage removal services. The department maintains rights-of-way, installs culverts, repairs potholes, maintains traffic lights, and removes debris from roadways. An animal control officer can also be contacted for assistance with stray or deceased animals. The Street Department is on call during floods, ice storms, or natural disasters. Each employee of the City of Corinth plays a vital role in our day-to-day operations. The goal of each department is to better serve the people of Corinth.
