She recently set up Utake Coffee Consulting, a business that addresses coffee quality and emerging development issues in the coffee sector in Africa. As an internationally certified Q Instructor and Barista trainer and judge for over 15 years, she collaborates with organizations and institutions that work in different areas including strategic development agenda for the coffee industry. These have gained her regional and international recognition for her expertise and work in the global coffee industry. Ms. Mbula is currently the Regional Project Advisor in a team of gender experts implementing the 2nd phase of a gender project in East Africa through the International Trade Centre, ITC (arm of UN and WTO) Women & Trade Program titled: Improving Economic Benefits for Women in the Coffee Sector. The first phase, "Empowering Women in the Coffee Sector" (2010-2013) was in part advised from a report she worked on in 2008 to show gender disparity in the African coffee sector.
