It may take 23 hours to get there, but once there, you are welcomed into a piece of paradise. Day one, we were greeted by our driver Andre; he turned out to be very informative, better than a tour guide, and a super nice person. We dropped off our luggage at the hotel and went out to lunch at a Belgian restaurant on the harbor. After a great lunch, we took a gondola all the way to the top of Table Mountain. From the top, it felt like being on the moon and looking down at the bay and the whole of Cape Town. We got back to the hotel by 5 p.m., just in time to get ready for dinner with representatives from Rust en Vrede, Ernie Els and Anthonij Rupert wineries. Day two, after a nice breakfast, we drove east towards Stellenbosch through a beautiful nature reserve close to the Atlantic Ocean, and as the wind picked up, it got quite chilly. Just before lunch, we stopped and watched the Arctic penguins which are local to the region. What amazingly cute little animals! Those penguins are so comfortable with people that they come up to you just like pets. Afterwards, we stopped for lunch at a wonderful seafood restaurant. While we were eating, a whale jumped about 250 meters in front of the restaurant - Wow! The Ernie Els Export Director was with us and brought along some locally made beef jerky and sausage for the short trip to Anthonij Rupert. After a one-hour drive to Stellenbosch wine country, we arrived at the Anthonij Rupert estate around 7 p.m., just in time to drop off our luggage and head to dinner with the general manager and his wife at the guest house. It was all home cooking as he grilled beef and vegetables for us. Day three, we had a tour of the car collection at the property. This huge property has 3500 acres of land that includes a mountain with a waterfall.
